A Celebration of Butchery
In December of 2024, our little community came together to butcher Jayce and Fiddlehead, two beloved young bulls from our Highland herd. These photos span the 22 days of slaughter, hanging and butchering. Death and life continue in a circle of awe, fulfillment, gut-wrenching moments and stunning events, and these images reflect that. What you will see here is the reality of that cycle, the love and sacrifice involved, and the moments that we chose to be a part of, when many would turn away. You may be shocked. You may be disgusted, horrified and queasy. We hope that you see the beauty and power of the connection between species who consciously care for each other through thick and thin, on this side of the veil and the other. We hope this expands your world. It does ours.
Much love and gratitude to all involved, and a special thank you to those who left their lives to feed ours.
